‘Splitting’ away from the norm now into an episode that ‘branches’ out into a world of killer nature lovers, traumatised kids and the odd decapitation. Scully and Mulder investigate the deaths of a man who got dragged underground into the mud, and a man pulled out of his window by what looks like a tree.

Turns out the town child therapist seems to be passing on her own abuse experience onto kids who then manage to get back at their tormentors by way of nature. Mulder chases the strange women, only to have a tree fall for no reason onto his car and stab the drivers seat – still, she dies in the end when the care taker slices her head off with an axe.

A rather strange episode that see’s nature at it’s worst.
