Before I continue, I just want to clarify a few things. No one has acknowledged Spender’s death yet, and Mulder and Scully still haven’t officially been put back on the X-Files yet.
This may have occurred at the very end of ‘One Son’, when Spender withdrew his complaint, but I’d still like to see Kersh give us some clarity. But not we see Mulder and Scully play house as they investigate the deaths of couples in the same neighbourhood all within the last few months.
Turns out the street is rather anal in their rules regarding mailboxes and basketball hoops on the driveway, all dictated by one member of the neighbourhood who visits the far east, and has managed to create some strange create, similar to Big foot who lives underground and comes up to kill people who bend the rules. Mulder and Scully move in under cover as Rob and Laura – the newly married couple (who don’t actually kiss, not even for show!). Mulder pushes his luck one step at a time until he puts in a pool, which really angers the local beast.
Though in true style, it goes after Scully who gets locked in a closet, as the beast comes right up to Mulder, 7 feet high with no face, dripping in what looks like muddy blood, it disintegrates before his very eyes.
The Neighbourhood plead ignorance, and normality is restored (well, as normal as American suburban can get).
